Did you all receive the email this week from Royal Resorts?

"It's BIG and we know you're going to LOVE IT! An exciting new Royal Experience for you, YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. SPREAD THE WORD. Tell your friends and stay tuned for further news."

Wonder what it's going to be THIS time?

We'll be at the Sands in 4 weeks. Maybe we'll find out. Otherwise I'll post any more informational emails from them.

Probably another innovation that owners will not like.

My guess is a discount of xx% on their inflated rental prices, with a mandatory presentation of the RR and SC.

Hello,
New to the forums and TS/Points in general. Can someone tell me more about Royal Resorts. Is it similar to Marriot Vaction Club, Wyndam Clubs etc?

No. Excellent resorts, friendly, great service, well maintained. Very comfortable, great beaches and pools, good but not great food. Not points, but fixed unit / fixed week, meaning owners bought the right to use a specific villa at a specific time.

Of the 5, 3 have AI, 2 don't, but AI is optional for owners and their guests/renters. Most owners aren't crazy about the somewhat changed atmosphere that AI has brought to the resorts that have it.

Great for family vacations, not party resorts. If you go, rent from an owner to avoid the AI expense and to know in advance exactly what location your villa will be...do you want ocean front? High floor? Ground floor?

If you exchange or rent from a travel site or from the royals, you will take pot luck for your location. You also will have to do AI. Instead, experience the many good restaurants in Cancun and have the flexibility of your kitchen, take out, and eating on your lovely ocean view terrace.

If you go, don't waste half a day on a presentation. If you do, do not fall for the smoke and mirrors of their "Signature Club" plans.

Just Enjoy the beautiful friendly resorts and relax :)

When your question is a different topic than the original post (OP), it is suggested that you go ahead and start a new thread with said question or search and add to an existing thread on a similar topic. I think the moderators can make that adjustment if they want to.
That said, repeating mostly what PJ said, Royals with the exception of their new "Signature Club" (optional) are not points based timeshares. You buy a specific week and unit, it then is always yours until the Right to Use runs out in X number of years. Then the resort is sold and you get a percentage of profits over expenses. I don't pretend to understand other timeshare companies, but the Royals until now have run theirs quite a bit different than some/many. We like fixed week and unit, others like floating/points etc, depends how you plan to use them. As PJ mentioned and I agree it is very important to get a week and a unit you like at the Royals, that one becomes yours. Or get a few weeks in a row, same unit, no moving on Sat. One week is too short imo.

I definitely agree! Whenever possible, we go for two or three, but we do have the good fortune of having enough time to do that.
