Has anyone ever used it? I'm wondering how exactly it works if it is a certain time they drop you off and pick you up or if you call and they just come get you.
We were staying at saratoga springs 2 weeks ago. Right before check in I got news my dad had passed away suddenly so we ended up staying 2 nights and coming home. We have the military tickets so we can go until next Sept. It seems though that the exchange for Disney has gone from 24 to 44. Some more of my family also wants to go and there is no way I can get 2 2 bedrooms at Disney. I really like the houses at Summer Bay so I was considering doing an on going search for those for April or May. If we don't hit those it seems the resort itself is usually available.
Any other info about this resort or any others you would recommend would be great.
Thank you!

I am sorry about the loss of your Dad, I am sure that was extremely difficult news to receive while away from home.

You should start an ongoing search as there are Aldo 5 brand new pool homes that are now open , a few of us have been lucky enough to get them through RCI. I have one in March for only 22 TPUs! They are called The Reserves at a Summer Bay a Resort and sleep 10 . The code for RCI is D468. Good luck :)

I stayed at Summer Bay 2 years ago. I hope you are driving there. I flew into MCO. Found out that MEARS or any of the town car sevices will not go to Summer Bay because it is in Clermont. They said they don't go that far. Had to rent a car. The Disney shuttles are not that bad. About 4 departures in the morning and 4 in the evening.

I am so very sorry to hear about the sudden loss of your dad.

In August 2013, there was news regarding Summer Bay Resort in Clearmont, FL. They had the 60 foot sinkhole that swallowed up a whole building!!!

Perhaps stay closer to Disney? I just love Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort which is right next to Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort! The location is fantastic! They have 1,2,3 and 4 bedroom units. All suites have full kitchens, a living room and a dining area. 1 Bedroom Deluxe Suites sleep up to 4 people. 2 bedroom Deluxe Suites sleep up to 8 people, 3 bedroom Deluxe Suites sleep up to 10 people and 4 bedroom Presidential Suites sleep up to 12 people. The resort is reasonably priced and is beautiful! They have scheduled shuttles to the Disney Theme Parks for a fee. I usually rent a car when I go. They have many fun and wonderful pools around a lake. They offer rooms with RCI too! You can also check on ebay...for some good deals too!

Since no one has answered your question about the shuttle, I'll try to remember. It seems like it was on a set schedule. Left Summer Bay at a specific time (or times) and were picked up at specific times.

From previous posts, the damage from sink hole seems to be cleaned up. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Thank you all so much! I will also be sure to add the Reserve into my search.
What's funny is before we left my dad said "You don't need to go down there that place is sinking!" He was 87 but he still drove and went wherever he wanted everyday so it was a shock. I think the entire state of FL is at risk so I'm sure one could spring up on even a Disney resort just as easy. I may add Saratoga Springs but it does look like they have already released those weeks so I'm probably to late anyway, for some reason the ones I saw yesterday it was like 10 trading power cheaper than even Old Key West.
We will be driving. I have that irrational fear of flying but this year I did have to fly. My husband was considering relocating with his job so we had to go fly to look at the area. Of course the plane we were on had to turn around and go back to the airport for a minor issue. I am already scared to death and now we are having an issue, I didn't care how minor it was.
Thanks again!

Back when the timeshare's building went into the sinkhole, there was extensive talk on TUG about it. People from other areas were talking about it like it was the end of Florida. It took those of us from Florida to say there is a SMALL chance one will open up.

I am very sorry about the loss of your Dad, also thank you for your service. You might want to check if you used those military tickets, they might expire within two weeks once used. Semper Fi

We live in the NC mtns and there have been several here in the past few months. If I am meant to go by being swallowed by a sink hole it won't matter if I am in NC or FL.

My step father is retired military. He served in Vietnam and the 1st Persian Gulf. We had asked before we bought them and they are good until you use them all or sometime in September. Of course when we go back he can't buy any more since we used the 6 he could. Still yet if everyone else wants to go they are getting a room pretty much for nothing.

Thank you all again for your answers and condolences. It was such a huge shock, even though he was older he still got out and went everyday. Back last winter when we had a pretty heavy snow he was out on the tractor pushing the driveway.
