What are my best ports in FL for cruising? I'm looking to fly into the nearest airport and not spend more on the ride to the port than I am for the cruise itself.

Thank you!

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades) is very close. We stay at a Ramada Inn Airport there that has Free shuttle to from airport/cruiseport and a good, free breakfast. They do charge to Miami cruise port.

This time, we're staying at Holiday Inn Express, and the airport shuttle is free; the cruise port shuttle is $6.50 per person. Not as good as free, but certainly reasonable.

Does FL stand for Florida or Fort Lauderdale?

If Fort Lauderdale, then the above-mentioned advice is worth considering. Also, if you plan to spend a day or two in the Fort Lauderdale area before the cruise, maybe check out renting a car as some car rental companies will give a free shuttle to Port Everglades.

Now if FL stands for Florida, then you will have to be more specific as there are also cruise ports in Miami, Tampa, Port Canaveral (about an hour east of Orlando), and even Jacksonville.

... The OP is not trying to ask about one specific city, rather which city in Florida has the easiest airport to cruise port connection.

Ft. Lauderdale is an easy pick. FLL is a stones-throw from the Port Everglades.
Tampa is a close 2nd... Taxis to the port are quite reasonable.

Whichever you pick, I suggest that you also check to see what the cruise line charges for an airport to cruise transfer. In Copenhagen, Royal Caribbean's transfer was competitive with taxis. If you are staying at a pre-cruise hotel, it will likely arrange a cruise port shuttle for a small fee, but if it only does airport shuttles, you could go back to the airport to pick up the cruise line's transfer.

FLL DOES have an area near the baggage claim where the cruise lines have shuttle info/gathering place. Due to our coming in from the West, we ALWAYS arrive late and the cruise line folks are gone for the day, but that's a good point for those who can- or choose to arrive on departure day. We had our bags not arrive on the same flight as we did ONCE, and will NEVER arrive on cruise departure day again. We always get to the departure port at least a day ahead. Or in interesting ports, several days ahead.

I only mention that Ramada because it offers both airport, and cruise port shuttles, a good breakfast, they don't charge extra for late checkout to make the cruise line's boarding schedule, is clean and darn reasonable.
