All I know is that my exchange was $50, yes $50 today. Surprised me.

Did you already have an ongoing search S to S or M to M and then confirm something other than the internal exchange?

No it was a Marriott to non-Marriott trade. No OGS, saw a week on The Big Island and I grabbed it.

This is interesting, Rci just got done with a sale where the exchange fee was 40% off. Made me make the exchange sooner rather than later. Maybe Rci and II have raised their exchange fees to much in the last couple of years and are running into resistance (I.e. Less exchanges than their stats say they should be getting).

You could be on to something. I think folks really want bang for their buck and they might be looking at cheeper exchange companies

Yes but if that were the case, the exchange companies would want to advertise it and advertise it widely. In Quad's case he just saw the amount when he got to the payment screen. And as for the 40% off in RCI that must have been a private sale for select members because I sure didn't get any notification. The most they have every given me off an exchange was an additional $10 off the regular online exchange price.

If they advertised widely then they would be admitting there was an issue and more people might wait, if they do targeted sales that might bump the number up enough for what they need. But if I'm correct then the pace of increases will slow down.

I didn't get a notification of an RCI exchange fee sale either. The most I've heard of an exchange fee sale was the same $10 off you mentioned.

Maybe it was for worldmark owners it went from nov 4th to the 10th 40% off. I snaged an exchange I was debating. I was going to wait until January so I could check airfares before deciding but figured it was worth the risk.

I think it was more likely an incentive to get more worldmark deposits. RCI has no problem heavily advertising getaway sales every 3-4 weeks, especially to overbuilt areas and off season times, and doesn't seem to feel like doing so admits that the normal getaway price is too high.

I only have records of two RCI exchange fee discounts this year:
  • 2/24: $100 off if exchanged by 2/27
  • 5/28: $40 off if exchanged by 5/30.
Not a Worldmark owner.

??????? what is WABAC machine ?

Seriously? I thought I was being funny, but I guess I was just showing my age.

Back in the 1970s there was a cartoon called "Mr Peabody's Improbable History" featuring Mr. Peabody and his boy Sherman. Mr Peabody invented a time travel device called the WABAC (aka Wayback) machine that they would use to travel to important points in human history.

Hi,
I think that I always get the worst possible promotion. Oh well.

Off to Montreal tomorrow to have my immigration interview on Tuesday. I hope to soon be a US resident.

Yup $25 for me to, kind of lame.

On another front just got another email from RCI and they are offering me another trade for 40% off. Weird.
