Been an RCI member for over 20 years. Membership expiring end of 2014. Considering canceling RCI membership, now in points with 3 units in HHI. I have a home week exchange in October '14 and another in May 2015.
What are the implications of a cancellation? I would likely list the units for rent and sale on TUG.
TIA...Joe

If you plan on selling I would recommend keeping it in RCI Points.

Why? A buyer who is already a member may benefit from the MTA $!49, but others would be free to join an Exchange agency of their choice, if any.
And keeping points would require another extended RCI membership, i.e., 5 years $499. Who knows how long it would take to sell...in the meantime I could try to rent. I'm just fatigued with paying RCI the ever increasing fees!
I also assume a dropped membership would revert my units to owner deeded weeks as purchased over 30 years ago.
Thanks for prompt reply...Joe

Just my opinion... If you saw value in converting to RCI points, a new owner might also. Dropping RCI will revert back to your deeded weeks. If it's an undesirable week, exchanging thru RCI points provides other options. There's usually a hefty fee to convert back to points. Also, you don't have to renew RCI membership for 5 years... if you're selling soon, you could renew for just one year.

Of course if your maintenance fees are high for the number of points given, you may not find anyone interested in the points. In that case it's probably a good idea to drop RCI points.
