Currently in Sedona and decided to sign up for the "Owner Update" to get some free goodies and see what they have to say. Just checking to see if anyone has done one lately (I have not), to see what I might expect them to be throwing at me (or what "lines" they will be feeding me).

Thanks,
Rob

You can expect blah, blah, blah

We went to an owner update in Destin a couple of weeks ago. They pitched 3 things to us. CWA, the rewards card, and ovation. Of course they told us that we would need to spend $10k on 64k points to enjoy any of these benefits. He also told us if we bought the points we should be able to save 50% on our maintenance fees. I got out by telling him that if he would put it in the contract that I would save 50% on my maintenance fees by buying the points I would consider it. Of course he said he couldn't put it in the contract so I told him I couldn't trust him.

We did an owners update at Myrtle / Seawatch Saturday. New twist was during the presentation they claimed we'd have until 12/31/2016 to think about any offer we received during a conversation with the sales agent .. It would have a number attached which any other Wyndham sales office would pull it up and honor it. Turned out that only applied to a very bogus offer (ours was for 400k points !!). Then after we turned that down they tried 3 other offers before we finally got out (my wife seems to always egg them on by being genuinely interested). Turned out those other offers were not good until 12/31 .. would have to decide that day if interested in any of them.

One of the agents actually seemed very knowledgable as he and his grandmother were both vip with over 2.5mm points. Then he 'turned on us' and claimed we would save program fees if we consolidated contracts. All my contracts are over the minimum program fee .. Charged at $.57 per thousand so I believe that was bogus.

They are pretty sure the new Voyager based reservation system will be in during December this year .. Gave us a sheet describing the system we could keep. First time I've seen that but the print date was August 2012.

No new Wyndham Resorts book available yet. No date known either.

Clearwater supposedly to be open this fall .. to have a Wyndham Grand hotel with it. Not sure any of this is credible.

Also, I was told that all of the CWA points in Myrtle Beach are at Towers On the Grove and more units are being added as CWA there.

And the developer point pricing offers ranged from $207 / 1000 for a Midtown Manhattan pres reserve unit (supposedly retails for $251/1000) to 'rock bottom' $189 / 1000 that they called 'foreclosure pricing' for National Harbor points. Of course we would not buy as all of these are way over priced compared to resale pricing. My last resale purchase was at $8 / 1000.
