Any suggestions on fun things to do on the weekend in this area? I find myself working here for a month with no advance notice to do any research. (Unfortunately, one of the team members had a heart attack and died a few days before he was due to travel to here.) Working very long hours Monday - Friday, but have weekends off. All ladies. At age 55, I'm the youngest (quite a rare treat).
The ladies rode a train to Chicago the weekend before I arrived, so probably won't want to go there again. Last Sunday we took a boat ride out of the harbor onto the lake and got to see the Kite Festival from the water. Next Saturday we plan to hit a couple of museums for the Smithsonian free day. We've been to the Farmers Market twice (the sweet corn was SOOOOO good). Some of them are shoppers, but a couple of us are not. I did hit the Mills Fleet Store this morning because they had jeans advertised. I also stumbled onto the Master Gardeners gardens at an old farmhouse and dairy barn just down the street from the hotel last weekend.
Any suggestions for favorite restaurants or other fun things to do are appreciated.
