I'm soooo over RCI and their ongoing search problems. For cryin' out loud, how hard can this be?! I'm not a programmer, but I have 3 immediate family members in the IT industry, grew up around computers for the last 30+ years, and I KNOW it shouldn't be this bad!! High school students could probably build a less quirky website.
I'm on a windows 8 laptop and have tried IE, chrome, and firefox. I modified my search parameters and all I'm trying to do is click the "continue" button in the bottom corner. NOTHING happens. Seriously. Has anyone had an luck -- what programs are you using? I don't want to call every time. This isn't 1986.
They did. I placed a brand new ongoing search, went all the way through and received the confirmation email this afternoon. I did this at 6 am pacific though. Haven't tried it since. It wasn't working in anything all week for me.

I have been having trouble off & on (mostly on) for about a month now. I have complained numerous times and even allowed an RCI tech guy to 'link up' to my computer so he could see exactly what was happening. He couldn't fix it then but said it would be fixed "soon".
After attempting to search Extra Vacations last evening (due to the current sale) and yet again experiencing problems (ie; there were literally hundreds of units available across the USA for October but when I went to the map view it showed the only units that were available were in the Orlando area) I filled out another feedback form.
This is the response I got late this afternoon.
"We apologize for the difficulty you experienced with the RCI website. Your feedback has been shared with the appropriate staff. Please be assured, our technical staff is working diligently to resolve the glitches that have occurred. Thank you for your patience as we work to improve the online options for our members.
Our site is currently working best with Google Chrome or Internet Explorer 9 or 10. If using Internet Explorer, please ensure that "Compatibility Mode" is turned off.
Thank you for your interest in RCI."
I wont be interested in RCI for much longer if they don't get their website working properly.
After numerous tries to modify my search, I phoned it in. The rep added my 2nd destination choice, but when I checked, he changed my 1st choice. I could hardly understand him (speak good English, please) and he obviously did not know what he was doing. I had to call again. I hope it doesn't mess up my number in the priority line since I had the original search for over a month.
I should have been able to do the modification myself! Also, I learned to always double check behind the reps!
I got a call from RCI asking if I still needed my OGSs since the dates were about to expire. Boy was he sorry he called! He got an earful about their website and the ineptitude of their programmers. Then he had the nerve to ask if I wanted to deposit any more weeks!
BTW avad88, I always call tech support; the guides never get my changes right. Even then, I make them wait on the phone until I double check their work.
Recommend Double Checking all RCI Ongoing Searches
Apparently the difficulty in making changes to ongoing searches extends to the RCI Guides in the call center as well.
After not being able to get changes made to a search online, I called RCI yesterday to have them make the changes. The search is for specific resorts in two different time periods and I was deleting two resorts from the search and adding one replacement. The person on the phone said all was well, but when I went online a bit later, the changes had not happened and the searches were showing up twice for each resort and each time period.
I called back and the Guide I spoke to this time noted the same problems, so she removed the duplicates and made the other changes and said all was showing fine on her system. I looked online while we were still on the phone and the changes did not record, but she said it may take a few minutes for the web page to update. I checked back later and no change, so I decided to wait overnight. I looked back this morning and the changes still were not showing.
So again this AM I call RCI and spoke to another guide who looks and sees the duplicates are still there and the adds/deletes were not made. She makes the changes yet again and once again they don't show up on my end. She says everything is fine on her end, but then she logs off and back on her system and when she logged back on, the changes had not been saved and had also reverted back to showing the duplicates.
She sent me to tech support and they finally were able to go into their system to make the changes and they were reflected in real time on my web page.
So just FYI, make sure you double check the changes, even when being made by the RCI Guides. The system does not seem to be consistently saving changes made on the website or on the call center system. Only tech support seems to get the changes recorded - at least for resort-specific searches.
I called RCI tech support today because I needed my OGSs changed. I have 6 and several were for dates that were near to expire. The tech support person was able to change 3 but even she was unable to change the other 3! She said she would escalate it, because somehow they were locked, and then she would correct them.
I just checked and she got 2 of the 3 changed correctly so I figured, what the heck, maybe I could fix the last one myself. I don't know what they did, but for the first time in 2 months I was able to modify my own OGS. I hope it lasts.
OOPS - spoke too soon. It only pretends to work. When I went back to look nothing changes. Unbelievable!!
I think they've fixed it - - see if you can modify an existing search. I was able to do it on the Points side, but it may also work in weeks.
Something I learned about keeping an ongoing search grandfathered. You can't look beyond two years from the week you deposited. That's also true on the Points side. When you set up a points search RCI sets up a dummy weeks deposit (since you're searching weeks beyond the 10-month lead time). The dummy deposit belongs to a particular current week, and you can't keep the search going or look for intervals that run later than the 2-year anniversary of the dummy week.
