This is my understanding - say I have 81k sos to use this year but I want to get a 2 br lockoff for 95,700sos. I can then pay my next year's MFs then borrow 14,700sos to use this year. The balance of 66,300sos will be available for my use next year.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.

Yes, but you can only do this 90 days in advance of your anticipated check-in date. No problem if there is availability.

There is something else to consider:

You also lose the ability to make reservations during your home resort preference period (8-12 months at most resorts) for the year from which you borrowed the StarOptions.

If there are enough staroptions left to get a full week somewhere else or in something else (ie...1BD), can't you still book 8 months out?

Yes, you can. The only thing you lose is the home resort preference (8-12 months out)
