This make seem to be true but isn't completely true.

There are many timeshare resorts which have points like Hilton, Westin Hyatt worldmark and Marriott which are being sold for real money ( $5K - $30 K) So it isn't that "points" resorts are not valued. It just that there are many TS companies which sell their TS with points that as the previous poster said " many folks want to get out from being under those ever increasing annual maintenance fees"

It's not just points resorts.

Many people are giving away all types or timeshare ownerships.
