I am thinking about taking the kids to Orlando this August. Would really love to stay in the Houses at Summerbay but I dont have enough points and I dont really know what there is to do with kids. I have a Marriott deposit in with II and I can see availability at Vistana, Orange Lake, and all of the Marriotts. We went to Ft. Lauderdale last year and stayed at Palm Aire and the kids absolutely loved it. My boys will be 16 ,15, and 7 at the time of travel. Any suggestions on a resort that will have a good variety of activities for all? I have an RCI points account as well but only about 75K points available.

Harbour Lake is the best for ages 12 & under, but Grande Vista is also good. Because of the teens I would go Grande Vista which is huge and has something for everyone. Lakeshore Reserve is probably the most pristine but also has good kids stuff and fun water slides. The Palms resorts are also good and have use of the World Center pools although they now charge $10 per day (per villa) for the water park although that's not bad.

Are you trying to do the theme parks and if so which ones?

For our two grandkids(now 15 & 19 young adults) the best resort hands down was Marriott Grande Vista.

We liked Marriott's Lakeshore Reserve, but it's usually hard to get. Something for everybody. Loved the pool area/slides, etc.

My older 2 have no desire to go to Disney so little guy and I will likely do 2 days at Disney. We have platinum passes for Busch Gardens so we will likely head down to Tampa and spend the night doing the water park one day and then Busch Gardens another.

There was a fair amount of availability at all of the Marriotts. Lakeshore only had 1 week that could/would work for us. Does anyone know what the difference is between MGR and MGV? They are both listed as Grande Vista and both have suitable dates.

The codes do not mean anything for exchange purposes so treat them as one. They have to do with an ownership right on an internal Marriott exchange.

The Cheetah Hunt roller coaster is my favorite of all time. The height requirement is only 48" so if your little one likes coasters try it out.

Falcon's Fury will open May 1 but the height will be 54".
