Grrr. I just tried to enter an ongoing search for the Northeast (US) region -- and was prompted to deposit $199 for the request.

Please don't tell me the domestic exchange fee is now $199 !!!

Are you sure you didn't accidentally add an international location in the request? Either that or there may be a technical error. According to the RCI website right now the fees are:
Exchange fees:

US
Canada
Domestic: $164 USD
Domestic: $181 CAD
International: $199 USD
International: $219 CAD

It doesn't seem that long ago when the domestic exchange fees were less than $100 (or maybe my memory is faulty). [Sigh] Not sure I'll be renewing our RCI membership when it expires in 3 years.

I expected the Domestic exchange fee to be $164, not $199. And no, I did not add any International locations (this was Northeast US).

If the exchange fee is still $164 but RCI now requires a full International deposit for ongoing (domestic) searches, that is still wrong.

There seems to be no end to displeasure with RCI.

I started an ongoing search this week and the charge was $164. Must be a website glitch.

Just tried to start an ongoing search for US only, and the website asked for $199!

Anyone else?

Gosh, it wouldn't be like there was never a glitch on RCI.com.

Two days ago the domestic fee was $164, and that is what posted to our CC account.

and $164 plus annual fees are way too much to make trading in RCI affordable.

The way RCI has been going. They are probably setting up their system to change the price to $199., and it got out early. After all, how much longer do you think it will be before the price is $199.?

Yes, this happened to me

This happened to me about 6 months ago when I was trying to enter an ongoing search for New York (which just happens to be in the Northeast region). I contacted RCI about it and they couldn't figure it out. They actually asked me for my username/password and details about how I was requesting the search so that they could duplicate it.

It's amazing (or maybe not) that they still haven't fixed this 6 months later.

They must have the worst programming team (or management) of any company I know (and as a software programmer/manager for the last 18 years, I've seen plenty of bad ones out there!).

Interesting...

my search was for New York also. I'll try other regions and see what price I get.

Maybe they are test marketing these prices in New York. After all, how does the song go... New York, New York "if I can make it there, I can make it anywhere" This might have given their exec's inspiration.

Forced to exchange with RCI

We have Paniolo Green and initially started with RCI years ago. It seemed to be o.k. at first but the more experience we had with it, the more mistakes we encountered and the more expensive it became. We then switched to II and DAE. I much prefer them over RCI. Problem? Our resort does not affaliate with II, we are forced to use RCI. Is there any way around this? They will let us use DAE but they don't have the inventory where we want to go sometimes.
I've complained to Paniolo, apparently so have other owners. I believe the points owners in Shell can use II or RCI. Weeks members are restricted to RCI. Can anyone give me any advice on this? How can I get around it?

Any other Shell members out there feel the same?

SFX will accept Paniolo Greens, and Hawaii Timeshare Exchange or Trading Places seems to have some perks for Hawaii deposits.

No need to get involved with RCI (ugh!) when there are so many other, more businesslike exchange companies waiting to work with you.
