Hello all,

I usually do all my searches online. Has anyone had better luck getting a trade they wanted by calling instead?

Thanks.

I do both. Online when searching for ideas and possibilities. If I have a specific resort or area with set dates I always call in. I found that on occasion the CSR at II can "see" something my deposit can't.

The most effective way to get an exchange is to put in an Ongoing Search - which is like wait-listing. Ongoing Searches are matched FIRST - the online inventory is the left overs.

Is the ongoing search done online or over the phone?

Thanks again!

I'm a great believer in calling whether it be for reservations, Deed Backs or whatever. There have been times that by calling I was successful getting someone (sometimes with authority) focused on resolving my needs. I just don't think online inquiries or letters work as well. Note that I am not knocking putting in ongoing searches as Denise suggests.

I just called and the lady I spoke with told me that the inventory I see online is the same inventory she sees. She told me that calling in to search isn't any different than doing an online search.

Yes and no - you and the Rep are talking about seeing the inventory that is ALREADY posted online, but that's not what we are talking about. You want to use an OGS to exchange for NEW deposits that haven't been posted online yet:

•Ongoing Searches are filled before a deposit is listed online.

•That means if a NEW deposit is made, it will go to someone with an Ongoing Search FIRST.

•If there are no ongoing searches for the specific deposit, THEN it will be posted online.

•So an OGS helps you get an exchange BEFORE it ever goes online.

Thanks so much for clearing that up. :)
