I was targeted for a 50% off offer for Marriott owners via direct mail.
50% off 1 or 2 year Gold or Platinum.

Unfortunately the system called the code "invalid" when I tried to use it online.

I called the number on the ad and the code did not work for them either.
They suggested I mail the form in with payment.

Has this ever happened to you?

$64.50 a year is actually worth it for the Platinum perks, especially if you use Priority Pass.

Platinum is worth it only if you use a combination of at least 2-3 Getaways and/or Guest certs per year (or at least enough to cover the fee if you have a half price offer). The fine print says you can't currently have gold or platinum or have been either in the last 6 months (i believe) prior to using the code.
The lounge and the companion pass don't seem worth the considerable effort it takes to redeem and use them.

Odd that they would send you an offer and not honor the code that they sent you.

Platinum is more worth it if you get it for 50% off. That means you only need two guest certs or getaways in a two year period vs one if you take them up on the two year deal. Not sure that Platinum Perks or the Priority Pass is really the reason I would get Platinum. Priority Pass isn't free, it just gives you access, you still need to pay per visit for that access.

It might have been sent by mistake but they said they will honor it, the OP just has to send it in so they know that it wasn't just a code that someone else gave to them.
