Considering Harborside for next Spring break. Last time I tried, a few years ago, couldn't get it. Anyone else able to trade at 7 months?

Harborside is one of the more difficult exchange in the Starwood system . The earliest you can do a Staroption exchange is 8 mos. out, so at 7 mos. out, others have had a whole month to make exchanges ahead of you.

Best Practice: At 12 mos. out, reserve your home resort week as a backup. At exactly 8 mos. out at 8:59 a.m. ET, call and see if the exchange you want is available. If it is, you can cancel your home resort and reserve the exchange. If you first choice isn't available, continue to call Fri., Sat., and Sun.

Added
I just noticed that you said "Spring Break" - holiday weeks are especially difficult to exchange into, but if you use the "back up" procedure described above, you don't have anything to lose by trying!

It's possible

I'm traveling to Harborside in two weeks. I made the reservation 8 months prior for a 2 bedroom lock-out. It's possible!

I'm looking forward to some warm weather. Can't wait!

I made my spring break 09 Harborside reservation at 9:00 a.m. Eastern from a poolside lounge chair @ WKORV last summer. I set the alarm in the middle of the night & strolled out to the pool. The WKORV security guy cruised by on his Segway & flashed his flashlight on me. I think he & my wife both thought I was nuts.

I would suggest trying to get to Harborside before presidents week as well (if you are flexible)....weeks 1-6 are not terribly difficult to get. As Denise said, home resort first.

If you can get in 1-6, you have harborside, then you can try for a reservation during spring break....of course, there will be a cancellation fee. I could be wrong but I believe that they can check availability before cancelling a reservation.

James: I want to avoid Spring Break  and possibly go back to Harborside -- what Feb or March weeks in 2010 fall into that category??

There is also a list of Spring Break dates at the top of the Lounge Board - avoid the week before and after Easter - Apr. 3rd, and Pres. week in Feb.
