Hi all,

I don't use my external exchange companies often, but had a question.... I have a 2bedroom from Sheraton Vistana in Orlando. I want a place in Barcelona next year, but the only 3 resorts they have there are 1 bedroom or studio. Is there an ability to split this into more than one exchange if I go with the 1 bedroom or the studio? Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,

Yolanda

If your 2 bdm. is a lock-off, you can split the deposit. If it is not a lock-off, you can't.

It can also be deposited with RCI for TPU (trading power units) so you might want to look at that option, instead. With RCI, you use the TPU like currency to pay for the units you want, so you are not limited by the size of the unit that you deposit.

In other words - let's say that you get 30 TPU for your deposit with RCI, and you see two studios for 15 TPU each in Spain. You can use the 30 TPU to reserve 2 studios.

Not all resorts let you split them up on a lock off! It depends on that resort and if they will let you split it up,inquire first!

With VSE, you have to own a lockoff unit to be able to lockoff. If you own a non-lockoff unit, you cannot split it.

There is the 2-for-1 (2BR to book 2 units of 1BR...) and I have never done it. You can enquire with II about it if you are using II.

The 2 for 1, if two 1BR are confirmed for example, will you pay 2 exchange fees?

Please note that if you're talking about the 3 resorts in II in Barcelona, none of them are available as exchanges, only as Getaways:

"NOTE: The accommodations listed under this resort code are available for purchase through the Getaway program and generally will not be available for exchange."

Getaways means "cash rentals". You cannot "exchange" your timeshare for those resorts.

Search Homeaway.com to rent an apartment in a good location in Barcelona. Select the criteria you require (# of bedrooms, washer, air conditioning, wifi, etc) to narrow down the possibilities. Then when you find one you like, you can up the map function to quickly locate other apartments in the same vicinity and compare them.

Use your timeshare for other travels. Set up an ongoing search for the resorts and timeframes you prefer.

I called II just now to ask about 2for1 ( I have a 2BR on request for 2BR exchange) They said that it is something you can not request but is randomly offered to you by II. That happened to us when I had a request for 1BR and got offered 2 studios.
