Thompson Cancels Family Holiday After Accidentally Selling It Too Cheaply - by Gavin Haines/ Travel/ News/ The Telegraph/ telegraph.co.uk
"Thomson has pulled the plug on a “once-in-a-lifetime" family holiday because it accidentally sold the package too cheaply.
Kristopher Meredith, 29, and his partner Paul Hales thought they were getting a bargain when they booked a 15-day, self-catering family holiday for six people to Orlando – for just £1,400. They made the booking, for four adults and two children, in the Manchester Fort branch of Thomson, where they paid a deposit of £750.
Speaking to Telegraph Travel, Mr Meredith said they booked the holiday in good faith and were reassured that the price was correct by a sales representative.
“We’re not daft, we knew it was a good deal but that’s not unheard of – sometimes prices are lower because some places are not quite as popular,” he said. “You just trust the people [in the shop], you don’t think anything of it – you go there, pay a price and that’s that.”
However, within 48 hours of making the booking, Mr Meredith received an email from Thomson informing him that the family holiday would be cancelled.
“It’s the same as buying a top, going home, putting it on and then [the shop] ringing a couple of days later to say ‘actually, can we have it back because you didn’t pay the right price’,” he said. “That’s how we feel.”..."
