Drawbacks of E-Plus in II

Something I didn't know until I initiated the E-Plus feature with an II trade...maybe helpful to someone else.
When I had my Late Deposit I could search inventory on an ongoing or moving basis dependent upon the date - so on December 21 I could search until February 20.
When I grabbed a trade and purchased E-Plus (a good thing because I wasn't sure I would be able to travel when/where the week was) I limited myself to searching 59 days (actually I think it is 60 days) from the check in date of the reservation I grabbed.
I did use the E-Plus to switch my original reservation so I really can't complain too much. I'm just a little frustrated that now I can only see inventory that is 60 days from my current check in date (Jan 23, 2015).
Not 100% sure I would have bought E-Plus had I known that. I would have just kept on searching until I found what I was able to take.
Now I'm resolved to go on my current reservation to FL in January - not too bad!

You will have 59 days from your current check in date. So if you have made 1 retrade, you still have 2 more. If you can't use your current one make sure you book something as close to 59 days after the current check in. You will still have one more trade and can than go 59 more days ahead. So if your current check in is late January you could have until mid May. If you have a second unit to search and you find something that you think you would have enough trading power for you can make a retrade and then immediately make another. So you can pick something for March 21 and then immediately use your last retrade for something up to May 20th or so.

So now you should be able to see further out than you were able to before the trade?

I am at a loss as well. I somewhat understand what the OP is referring to, which seems to be comparing a floating flex window versus a fixed 60 day window from check-in. The floating can eventually exceed the fixed dates. But I'm not sure I understand what could be any different unless someone thinks they can add E-Plus and bypass a flex restriction.

To the OP. Take tschwa2's advice and hop forward with subsequent trades which will make your search window bigger.

Though the floating would only exceed the fixed dates if you never did the initial exchange. The confirmation checkin would come up before the search window would be able to extend past the one you can see with EPlus.

I know. That's why I didn't fully grasp the perceived drawback, but I also don't think the OP understood that they could hop forward.

I have a reservation for Marriott Grand Chateu starting Jan 28, 15. I have the last (3rd) retrade available. When I try to do a re-trade it only allows me to reserve up to 30 days out. I am so confused.

You would also be restricted to 1 year from your original exchange date. That may be the date you are hitting up against.
