From the HOA Spring newsletter( just received the email today 4-24-14)

Effective March 1, 2014, there is a new package handling procedure that includes a small fee for all parcels received. Please call 407 239 3100 for assistance.

Me:
what's the fees is - here's there answer.

Johnny:
There is a fee of $10 per package up to 10 lbs, and for packages over
10 lbs, $1 per pound applies up to a max of $25

Not my idea of a small fee.

I wonder about the people who have The Owners Locker tote, and if they will be charged a fee for this arriving at the resort (possibly before the person checks in)??. Nothing like being Nickeled and Dimed to death.

Complain about it and ding them on the ratings/surveys. Maybe it'll go away eventually.

First, you are going to pay a fee to the company to ship The Owner Locker tote package to the resort, then you are going to pay the resort to receive and delivery your tote to your villa at the resort; plus a tip for the person who is going to delivery your Owner Locker tote to you

What would one have shipped to the resort, that would be worth the cost of postage + resort fee + tip? That has to be a minimum of $25. We had groceries delivered from the Garden Grocer in Orlando, and it certainly didn't cost $25 extra.

I've shipped all sorts. Diapers formula even luggage. Domestically it can be cheaper than flying with it and less to cart at each end.

But you can buy diapers and formula anywhere you go in the US for about the same price. By the time you add postage, where's the savings?

It's popular with some of us Canadians who want items that can't be mail ordered to Canada (usually because of vendor policy). Place your order a couple of weeks before you leave and have the items delivered to the resort. The resort fee would still be cheaper than using a US based mail forwarder. Note that the rate I saw on the Starwood site was less than what is quoted above. Thought is was interesting; it was a few days before I saw the newsletter, but I can't find the link now. Will post back if I can find it...

Edit, well either I read wrong, or they updated the fee since the last time I read the resort announcements. The rates above are correct:

This is an absolutely absurd policy. The word "service" has been excised from Starwood's vocabulary and replaced with "fee". SVR is beginning to sound like the Motel6 of timeshares in terms of policy, and even Motel6 will (I think) accept packages on your behalf without a fee.

Of course, it would be reasonable for any resort to charge, in my opinion, for those who use package delivery services excessively. But if you have one or two packages, I don't think they should charge.

I've done that the last few times we went to WDW -- it was cheaper (often free) to ship to within the US than to ship across the border. Unpack the item, and stuff it in a suitcase on the way home.

The only thing I ever ran in to was the front desk trying to find the box -- works great when the courier company got a signature, which combined with the time of delivery often helped find the package.

So far, I've never been charged, even at hotels that say there is a charge. But I try to leave it down to one small package on arrival, not tons of big boxes.

Amazon with 20% discount and free shipping.
Saving of time chasing around especially if you are not using big two formula and diapers.

Just received an email from Owners Locker(John) and he stated that the totes are considered luggage and not packages Hope this helps :hi:
