I recently bought a week at Vacation Village at Parkway worth 92500 points and i would like to use some of my points at a Disney resort in either Orlando or Hilton Head.

I believe i read somewhere here on Tugs that you can't use RCI points for DVC due some regional block :(

Does anyone know anything about this?

Is this for all Disney Resorts or just the ones around Orlando?

Hilton Head would be a GO if you can find it

but DVC orlando would be "regional block"

You will not be able to book a DVC resort in Orlando if you own a timeshare that is within, I believe, 50 miles of DVC so your Vacation Village of Parkway RCI points cannot be used to book a DVC resort in Orlando. You can, however, use those RCI points to book at Hilton Head, Vero Beach, and I believe the new Disney property in Hawaii when it opens.

I thought that might be the case. Thanks a lot gjw007 and lawgs. I just bought this VV at Parkway and i haven't even got my RCI account yet. That should happen in the next week or two and when it does i'll be looking.

Thanks again:clap: I'm sooooooo glad i found that informative web site. I think my 15.00/yr is going to be money well spent.

How does regional block work?

Just curious, how does the regional block work? Does it mean that you are blocked from seeing or booking any Orlando DVC from your RCI Points account or you can see and book Orlando DVCs and then RCI Points cancels your reservation for violating the regional block?

Yes, you can see and book and then RCI will cancel the exchange.

Vacation Village at Parkway, Week 52, RCI Points
Grandview at Las Vegas, Week 11
Been there done that. I also own at Vacation Village at Parkway and did book DVC and as mentioned RCI cancelled the exchange. This was shortly after DVC returned to RCI so they utilized my Grandview at Las Vegas week and somehow manipulated the system charging me a reduced point amount, RCI did a great job to rectify this situation.

Something just dawned on me. Is this regional block on just DVC resorts, or all resorts within 50 miles of your home resort. In my case Vacation Village at Parkway?

OK ... not to be difficult. BUT i own at polynesian isles, and exchange into DVC.

dont know why, but they allow it - no problems.

Just to clarify

you own there at Polynesian Isles, but are you using another resort ( not within the 30 mile block ) to exchange ???

that would make sense

you can own Orlando timeshares, just not "usually" able to use them for exchanges into DVC

yes - i own at poly and use a south carolina to trade into dvc.

so there really isnt a complete block then, you can still own there, but just cant use that unit to trade in.
