I just got a call regarding my property (Bay Club) asking to rent at a profit unused points or weeks. They are looking to find inventory for upcoming large events (golf; Nascar). I was just getting ready to rescue my points when I listened to the message. So, I may be interested.

What kind of questions should I ask to make sure this is legit? Is it possibly a scam? How would it work? I do have points. What is typical profit one should expect? (maintenance fee only or more?) What would I need to do with HGVC if I decide to do this?

There is a simple rule of thumb here - if there is ANY upfront fee, it's a scam.

99.9% of the time, these cold-callers are scammers.

If they want money to list it (over $50-$75 MAX) then all they really arse after is the upfront fee & have no intention of renting your time. Don't fall for it. Use Craigs List, her at TUG & other sites to offer it yourself & you'll do much better.

I own at Wyndham's Ocean Walk on Daytona Beach ... just 3 miles from Nascar speedway. These people have NOT contacted me about my advertised Presidential 4BDR for Feb, 2011 (or my other 3 units for that time frame) - why would they be inquiring about your DVC points about 70 miles from the speedway - (think MAJOR, MAJOR traffic jam after the race).

My vote is SCAMMER. Either for your transferable DVC points or you upfront cash.
