I called to make a reservations at 12 months out. Woke up just before 6 AM Pacific  . The agent did not have a clue what she was doing :( . It took her 18 minutes to make my reservation. So much for that timestamp I like so much! I asked her if I should call back and speak to someone else and she said that she could do it. First she told me that there were no 2 bedroom lockoffs, only 2 bedrooms at WKORV. Then she said that I would have to use Staroptions (at 12 months out??). Then she tried to cancel the wrong reservation. Then she put me on hold. I was so afraid that she would totally mess all my reservations up if I hung up while on hold, so I waited. And waited.

After that ordeal was over, I called back to double-check that my 06 and 07 reservations were okay. Luckily, I got another agent. Then I got the confirmation email, which states that the ocean view 2-bedroom lockoff sleeps 10 and has two double beds in the master bedroom  . What is that all about? So I called back again to check, and the same second agent assured me that there would be a king-sized bed in the master bedroom. Why am I getting a confirmation that says, sleeps 10? Is there some quality control department at SVN that I can contact?

In June, I recall it took 24 minutes to get my reservation made! Do I just have bad luck or what  ?! Geez, I need a vacation!

Yikes that sounds stressful.

I'm gonna call in a few weeks. Still trying to decide if I want to check in on Friday or Saturday. At least you'll have a good chance of a nice view since more rooms are available at the Saturday check-in than any other day. Hopefully not too many people called in today.

Mine is actually a Sunday check-in

Well, hopefully I will still have a good choice of view rooms for that Sunday:) . We checked in on Sunday before and did okay. I hope that things haven't changed too much. I chose a Sunday because we can relax and pack on Saturday. And the Monday after we get back is a holiday, so no school. And, checking in and out is less crowded on Sundays. Hopefully it will work out. In any case, I cancelled a prime summer week today :(.

Plus, it'll be our 10th anniversary of our beach wedding on Maui, so I wanted to go back to the scene of the crime, er, blessed event :D .

If I get nervous about taking the kids out of school, then I'll be calling next week for Thanksgiving 2007 instead. And if not then, probably early December.

Update, you actually can request a sleep 10 villa

Still feeling slightly uneasy about my reservation, I called SVN for a fourth time today. This time, I got an agent who looked at my reservation and told me that I had been booked in a villa that sleeps 10, with two double beds in the master bedroom. Apparently, these villas are available upon request. There is one located in Building A, one in Building B, and a few more in Building C.

The agent switched my room type to a regular, sleeps 8 villa. She said that they just had a training class get out last week, so there were a number of new agents. I asked her how I could speed up the cancel/book process in the future, and she said that I could ask for a senior agent to handle the transaction?!

Wow, we learn something new about our resort everyday. The no tub studio and now units that sleep 10. That would be great to know for the future. I wonder what room number they are.

Well, we decided to check-in on Friday for next year. I just realize for me to call on for Saturday check-in will difficult since I'll be on a plane to Hawaii. We did a Sunday to Sunday somewhere else and it was really nice to have Saturday to pack.
