This is how I did it. I had no idea it would work out like this but it worked out really well! By the way, this will be the only post I write and I likely will not return.

Here's my story. I work at a call center. I offered to one of the employees to simply give away my timeshare. She can have it free and clear, it's paid off but the maintenance and taxes are hers of course. She agreed. I asked Westgate Resorts how to accomplish this. They gave me the steps but I didn't tell them it would be at no cost. They told me there's a small fee for the title transfer.

I faxed the paperwork that my co-worker and I filled out. Turns out Westgate was really unhappy with the idea of someone getting a timeshare for free so they rejected it and offered to take back the timeshare entirely, my ownership dissolved provided I fill out some more paperwork, fax it, then wait for some documents in the mail, fill those out, notarized with two witnesses, and $150 money order. I did all of that and I'm no longer an owner.

The point is....you have to offer to give it away to a regular person. Apparently timeshare resorts do NOT like that! I hope this helps someone get out of the hell of owning one of these nonsense timeshare units.

Good luck!

It's called Right of First Refusal. Without it there is nothing a resort can do to refuse a timeshare that was given away.

If you can count on westgate to exercise their right of first refusal than there shouldnt be a problem finding a "buyer" The question is can you count on them

If it was Wyndham, it wouldn't cost you anything, and you wouldn't be waiting for anything

Personally i am happy with what i own, but glad that worked out for you. Obviously your timeshare was fully paid off, and you found a willing taker which can be a challenge for many people.
