I'm new to TUG and dobn't know how to enter a new post. I wanted to warn people about the so-called "Link Marketing Solutions" who claim to be out of Dallas Texas. Sure, nice website, calling me. . . .deal of the century. I searched Texas Attorney General, Dallas County Clerk, Dallas P.D., and the Dallas Yellow Pages. Google search, too. They don't appear to exist. A sucker is born every day & I almost became one. I probably didn't post
this in the right place -- maybe you can help me get the word out?

Don't worry. We've been getting the word out for years here on TUG about how to avoid falling for scams. You mentioned the two principal hallmarks of these typical resale scams: an unsolicited phone call and a too-good-to-be-true offer.

If you scroll through the "Buying, Selling, Renting" forums here, you'll see that every week someone is popping up on these boards asking something along the lines of "XXX just called me and say they have some buyers who are willing to buy my timeshare for enough money to put my kids through college. What should I do?"

Each and every time it proves to be an upfront fee scam.

Unfortunately, so many people see the fancy website, believe every word being spoken and are blinded by the big cash offer that they don't do any investigations before sending them money. This keeps the scammers in business. If no one ever sent them money the scammers would simply move on to another scam.
