In an oceanfront one bedroom this week.

Thought there should be a coffee table in front of the couch. There was at the Maui Ocean Club, which is a similiar layout.

I call and am told there should be a coffee table there, but they are out of coffee tables. I expressed my dsappointment and asked to be called when the person in charge thought coffee tables might arrive.

About an hour later, there is a knock at the door and a coffee table is delivered from an unoccupied unit.

Just had to comment that this was the chuckle of the afternoon for me. What a bizarre thing to be missing. I have visions of two guys wrestling and ending up falling on to and squashing the coffee table!

Only to the extent that they are both hotel conversions. Kind of like saying that all Marriott 2BR purpose built villas have a similar layout. A grain of truth, but....

I wouldn't really expect a resort to keep spare coffee tables on hand. Maybe one perhaps in the event of damage. How often would a coffee table really go missing? If they are close to a refurb, it would make sense that they may not have any spares on hand.

I've heard of guests taking home resort matchbooks, coasters, towels, etc., but a coffee table would need a pretty big suitcase! ;)

When remodeling, you'd think a room wouldn't be cleared out until you had new furnishings ready. We've been in the Molokai tower in Maui since they started remodeling two weeks ago, and it's been a steady assembly line of work in the floors above us.
