I think people tend to be a little bit hard on the IT monkeys.

I'm actually an IT Monkey (well, Senior Consulting Ape...), so I'm quite happy to dish it out where it's deserved..

Granted, Starwood is about 10 years late to the online reservations party, but the system they ended up creating is actually quite good.

It's definitely a good start, and some of it is actually better than expected.

Complaining about this new message is sort of like complaining about a "Slow - children at play" street sign that doesn't update when all the kids are inside.

If the monkies were aware of a rule (don't show this for Home Resort bookings), they should have implemented it.

If the monkies were aware of a rule (don't show this for Home Resort bookings), they should have implemented it.

As an IT monkey myself, it wouldn't surprise me if they weren't informed of the requirement. Even if they were, it may have been deemed more important that the message be implemented immediately, rather than putting some conditional logic in place that would have required more rigorous testing.
