Balancing portfolio - weeks vs points - and finding resale II point weeks

On the other hand, the Club Interval Gold membership which lets you use Club Interval Points does NOT transfer to a new owner. If you sell the timeshare, you are just selling the underlying week. If the new owner wants to use it as points, they would need to pay to upgrade that membership again.

So now my question does not include "can I buy II weeks with points resale".
I would, though, still like advice on best way to balance a portfolio for a family of four that lives in Colorado and likes to travel frequently, in a mix of shorter stays and weeks, in a lot of places. Most trips are in US, but some foreign travel (expenses....).




I have one timeshare week - it trades on II and has points from the developer. While I am satisfied what we're getting good value (though def. not a bargain) from the developer, clearly there is a more cost effective way to go for expanding our TS portfolio!

Now I want to focus on balancing value and flexibility for our family of four. We do one or two full weeks of travel per year reliably, and many short 3-4 day trips. These shorter ones are spread throughout the year, the longer ones are during high demand travel times because we have kids in school. We like to travel and take the kids.

I think if I had another week that I could optionally bank as points in II it would help a lot with creating flexibility for short trips, but we'd still have the option for getting a good week somewhere.

I have had luck finding II weeks, RCI points and weeks, and of course Worldmark and other point systems for resale. But, no II weeks that get points that you can break up into short stays.

Is this just not something you can usually get without purchasing from the developer (again...!)?

I've considered Worldmark resale because many WM destinations are drivable for us and in decent places, and RCI resale - should I just focus on one of those two options for building some flexibility with points and forget looking for more II weeks with points?

If you are looking at Worldmark, look also at Shell Vacation Club ... also exchanges with II and can be found as FREE. And has been brought by Wyndham recently. An II membership (GOLD, I believe) is included with this points system.

Well, I turned my week in. I have a points balance that I can split across short stays. I am an II Gold member.

So maybe it's not a "point system" but it's points and if I have another week with points and turn it in, the balance of points available to me goes up.

? Did I call it the wrong thing? Seems like points to me!
