Article says Hilton terminated the agreement with francishee, Colony Resorts.

It will become effective January 1, 2012.

See the article here.

So that's the wonderful world of franchise agreements and properties. So what will happen to the timeshares - aren't there some in that building? Will they become Hilton Grand Vacation Club at the Ramada (or whatever, usually lower quality brand the main building takes on)? This is why depending on affiliation for so called status or quality of a timeshare or hotel is fleeting at best.

Thanks for attaching the link John. :)

There are no ts's that I am aware of at the LV Hilton. But there are or were booths for HGVC and you used to get LV Hilton comps for doing a HGVC tour.

They are totally separate buildings, and the timeshares and hotels are different divisions within Hilton. So there will be no impact on the timeshare side.

Isn't the hgvc at Karen street directly adjacent to the LV Hilton? Is it possible then that this was part of the same franchise agreement? If yes I have a sick feeling in my stomach as I own at this HGVC...:(

Don't worry, as noted in the post above yous the hotel and timeshare divisions are separate.... Karen street will stil be HGVC, it just won't sit next to a Hilton Hotel in the future.

I happened to be in the LV Hilton casino the night they were switching ownership from Hilton to Colony. I suspect that keeping the name Hilton only for a decent interval was in the plans of both parties.

George

PS I'm not an HGVC owner but always enjoyed staying at the Karan Ave property.

No worries.....The worst that can happen is that TUG will give the HGVC on Karen Ave a dual name based on the new hotel affiliation.

For example: HGVC Las Vegas (Convention Center) / Ramada Las Vegas

Hilton Grand Vacations Club Las Vegas appears to be the name of choice in the member guide even as the reservation system calls it Hilton Grand Vacations Club at the Las Vegas Hilton. Maybe they saw it coming.

If I were to guess on a moniker, I'd guess HGVC Convention Center. The staff there refers to it as Karen Street, but for marketing, I would think CC. When the hotel changes affiliation, I would guess the hotel will no longer be mentioned in the name. Just my two cents. :)

It did not kill the HGVC Flamingo when Hilton ended that affiliation. I have found the Hilton Las Vegas property to have gone way down hill the past 7 years or so. The location near the LV Convention Center and access to the monorail will keep the value up on the HGVC Karen Ave property. Just my 2 cents...

Que Lastima!!!

I remember the Las Vegas Hilton long before the Karen Avenue Property was built, back in the days of Elvis and Liberace. I guess I will no longer be able to charge my meals in the renamed hotel to my room at the Karen Avenue property.

This of course is not the first time this property has changed names, originally opening as the "International Hotel".

As has already been pointed out, the HGVC Flamingo was the first HGVC built in Vegas which at the time, sat at the rear of the Flamingo Hilton hotel, now known as the "Flamingo". After it's success, they built the Karen property on the north/east corner of the LV Hilton property, which is now separated from the hotel by the parking garage. About the only real issue is parking rights which are negotiated with the hotel property owner if I'm not mistaken.

I don't know what the Karen Street property had overlapping with the Las Vegas Hilton, but when the Flamingo Hilton was no longer a Hilton the HGVC at the Flamingo time share owners lost some perks....that were used as enticements when we bought, i.e discounts at all the the restaurants and spa, a line pass at the buffet and diner. Although we can still use the pool area, it is blocked off at night so we have to walk down the "creepy" (at 2 or 3am alone, it's creepy)side street to a side key only entrance.

Although we still love the property and the location, a small part of the fun was the perks at the Hilton...
