I got an e-mail that looks valid---but I have yet to click on it.

"We think that someone else might have accessed the Microsoft account"
(my e-mail address).
"When this happens, we require you to verify your identity with a security challenge and then change your password the next time you sign in.
If someone else has access to your account, they have your password and might be trying to access your personal information or send junk email.
If you haven't already recovered your account, we can help you do it now. "

"Recover account " (.....I could click on this link)

"Learn how to make your account more secure (...another link to click on)

"Thanks,
The Microsoft account team"

-------------------------

I am suspicious. I tried to go on to 'chat' with a Microsoft person, but was unsuccessful----what do you think?

Thanks,
Pat

Don't click on the link in the email. If you're concerned about it, change your password through your control panel.

These are 99+% of the time phishing scams to try and get your logon info! DO NOT under any circumstance click on that link in the email!

If you're worried about it or want to check it, then open up another tab in your browser and manually type in the address of the account your worried about (paypal, Microsoft, your bank, whatever) and login that way so you know your in your real account and just check it that way.

Agreed - don't click on the links, or respond in any way. Sign into your account independently, and change the password, and then forward the email to spoof@microsoft.com (or net, or whatever it is.)
