I was looking at a hotel through RCI that is 1700 points for 7 days, saturday checkin, a good value for us. The only problem is that we only want to go for 6 days, check in on a monday and leave on sunday. If we call RCI can we book it like that or are those 7 day windows written in stone? It isn't a condo or room with a kitchen like, say, Parc Soleil, it's just a regular hotel room that could normally be booked for any days you want.

Has anyone ever managed to book one of these weeks using different checkin and checkout days?

It depends on the inventory. If the online exchange fee is $209 and it is not letting you book more or less days than it is in the weeks inventory. You don't have to stay the full week but the cost is going to be the same and you would have to check out on the check out day. It doesn't matter that it isn't a multi bedroom condo. Some people own studios or hotel style configurations. If the exchange fee is $159 (for 7 days) than it is in the points inventory and you should be able to book fewer days and the exchange fee might be even lower but if the available check out day is Saturday you could not change the check out day to Sunday. These short stays often also have an additional housekeeping charge of $45-90 depending on the resort and size of unit.

An easy way to tell is with the "length of stay" filter.
Select for stays of 1-6 days for points-inventory, and see what shows up.

You need to call HGVC (not RCI) to ask for help with RCI.
HGVC has their own RCI CSR's.

There is no deal to swing. RCI has a week inventory. They can't change or adjust the dates. They aren't going to offer a reduced exchange fee if you can't use some of the dates.

RCI has two separate and distinct inventories: (a) weeks, and (2) points (a/k/a nights).
If what you see is from the weeks-inventory, no "adjustments" to the # can be made.
OTOH, if the resort uses points (nightly), then you can book whatever # is available.

If you look 10+ months out, all you will see is "weeks" (no points/night).
LT 10-months, you see either, but the length-of-stay filter can pick or the other.
