I just recently joined Costco to take advantage of the car rental program based on all of the great TUG reviews. Usually when I rent a car, it is for business, and our company uses Hertz so I belong to the Number 1 gold program and get to skip the line. My upcoming Costco rentals are with Budget and Enterprise. Budget has an express pick up program that I can join, but I am wondering if any TUGers have experience using these programs with Costco. It looks like it may not be easy as Costco doesn't ask for this info as part of your profile. Any advice on the topic will be appreciated.

Once you get your Reservation Confirmation email from Costco, it'll include the confirmation code for the rental company. If you then go to the rental company website and enter that code, you should be able to modify the reservation to add your loyalty program code. If that doesn't work, send a message to the Costco Travel people, and ask how you can add your program code. Push comes to shove, call the rental desk in the city you're going to, and tell them you want to add the code to your upcoming reservation. They should be able to add it for you at their end.

One word to consider: Keep checking Costco's site for changes in rental rates. I've managed to cut more than $100 off a reservation for a convertible in Hawaii for next month. It was worth the hassle. :)

Thanks so much for the advice, I will go ahead and do that. And yes, I booked about 1-1/2 weeks ago and I've already gotten my rate down about $30 and gotten a larger car too

It comes up when you book a particular vehicle, when you fill out "Renter's Details." For Budget, the slot is called "Budget Fastbreak" and for Enterprise it's labeled "Enterprise Plus." It seems you have to remember the specific name of the loyalty program to realize Costco is asking for your loyalty number. Hope that helps!
