We are staying at the Animal Kingdom, one bedroom, sleeps 4. My oldest daughter and her child will be coming down and leaving after three days, my other daughter with her child will be coming in when the oldest leaves. I am considering the meal plan. Can I get the dining plans for the three of us and then continue to use it when the youngest comes in.

Thank You

Donna

I'm guessing not, based on this Q&A entry in the Dining Plan brochure.

Q. Can I use my Disney Deluxe Dining Plan to redeem meals for friends or family members who are not included in my reservation or have not purchased a Disney dining plan?
A. Sorry, you may not use your Disney Deluxe Dining Plan to redeem meals for friends or family members who are not included in your reservation or have not purchased a Disney dining plan.

Others may know away around this. I'm just researching myself for a possible Disney trip next year.

I have never used the Disney Dining plan ...

Do they check names and ids for everyone at the table?

When I have been in a Disney dining room, usually one person hands in all the dining plan tickets. Quick service is usually the parent with the child present. Seems to be more like a HEAD COUNT (and age appropriate) than a Name Check.

My experience was that they only cared about the number of meals you had loaded on the card. I was a party of 4, and I ordered all sorts of variations with my card. Two meals for the kids, and then two adult meals at a different venue for the wife and I while the kids had a sitter. Six counter services at one time...or 1 or 3, or whatever....So even less important than head count, you just had to have enough credits left. I got the impression at some restaurants that I could have had a big party and used my whole meal plan for the week at one meal for 28 guests, if that is the route I wanted to go.

I think your bigger problem would be if you "declare" the new guest, as Disney wants everyone on the same plan.

To answer the original question, I would say with 95+% certainty they will not check id's at the restaurants. So if you book for 4, and you show up with a different crew, the only one who MAY matter is the one who gives the card.

I subscribe to the philosophy that if you act like nothing is out of place, then so will your servers.

One other note, they will accept an adult credit for a child meal, but not the reverse, of course.

You will be required to purchase the dining plan for anyone on the reservation, whether they are there the entire time or not. If you don't have the names on the reservation, your family members would not be able to use Magical Express to get from the airport to WDW. If they are not flying, it would not be a problem and you could add the last two when they arrive and delete the first two.

The ages of the kids could be an issue if they are not both aged 3-9 or both 10+.

When you dine at table service dining, one person provides the Key to the World with the dining credits on it. You don't need to provide one KTTW for each diner. You will be limited to the number of dining plans listed on the card (so, 3A, 1C or 4A or whatever you have listed on the reservation). If you have 3A, 1C, you would be limited to using credits for three guests aged 10+ and one guest aged 3-9. Any additional diners at the table would need to be paid for Out of Pocket.

EMH are only for registered guests.

AKV 1 bedrooms usually fit 5 (1 king bedroom, 1 sleeper sofa, 1 fold out chair).

DDP usually will not save you money unless you do a lot of character meals.

Another option, if you didn't get the room through rci, then you could break the reservation up into 2 reservations by calling, having DDP for each registered person.

Hmmm....that's a good question. Technically, no, it won't work. However, could you probably "make it work"? Possibly.

Are your tickets tied to your room reservation? Our KTTW cards have never had our tickets attached to the cards because we buy military tickets. I don't know how you would work your tickets and dining plan switch.

I have never had to show id at restaurants when using my KTTW card. We only present one card (either my husband's or mine because our cards are the only ones with charging privileges) when we pay for our QS or TS meals.

there are a million opinions on this subject, IMHO the dining plan is not worth it. Eat in the room for breakfast and a few meals and you have more than saved money. When my kids were little they only ate a few bites of bfast and were ready to go. Some milk and cereal was a better deal.

We found it to be way too much food for us. We spent five days (I think it was) on property with free dining a few years ago. We had a lot of credits left at the end, so collected carry-out meals to take with us to our next resort. It took us most of the following week to clear up the leftovers in the fridge.

It should work. I don't think they even collect everyone's card to deduct dining credit. They only need to use one card for each room. Are you staying with RCI exchange? I've never had to switch guests during an RCI stay. With DVC reservation, I had to split my reservation to two when I had guest changes. My husband joined us later once, we had to split the reservation to two and could have different dining option for the two period. Not sure how RCI exchange would work, but if you don't officially change the guest names, you can still use the dining credit.

We used the dining plan a few time and enjoyed having it. I agree it is not good to eat that much, and it takes lots of time. But it is still fun not having to think about cooking or grocery shopping. My teen boys would rather stay at value resorts with dining plan than DVC resorts.
