Per the sales lady at WKORV today, you don't own a timeshare or a destination club and hardly any of you trade through II. In fact, since there are only 20 resorts in the system most of you don't even go to the resorts (which are not timeshares), you stay at hotels all around the world. Naturally I mentioned to the sales lady that this did not match the experiences of any of the Starwood owners I have spoken with.

We did not do a presentation. Just a non-gifted walk through with a rep so we could see a full size unit, since we're in a studio. The woman who arranged our tour said we could see a unit in the North and South sides to compare, but we only got to see the south side model. The sales lady claimed the south side weren't originally Starwood units and they had to complete the project according to the original design, but the north side were purpose-built according to their own plans. I would have liked to have seen both units to compare, but once she determined we had no interest in buying and already owned Hawaiian timeshares for a fraction of the purchase price and maintenance fees she dumped us off in the South Lobby and told us to have a nice day!

I know there are lots of threads on this already, but since we are currently staying at the WKORVN, in a studio, i thought I would just comment that we find the studios in the N much nicer, as they have the full lanai, which is important to us. That aside, we find the studios here very nice, well equipped, including a full kitchen (x oven), full laundry, and dishwasher. Probably the nicest studios we have stayed in. (including Marriott and Hilton)

I agree. The studio we're in is very nice. We have the "deluxe" with a full lanai and the same amenities as you, less the oven. We have enjoyed our stay. Checking out on Saturday. The sales person truly stunned me though, telling us all the owners pick up the phone and stay in hotels around the world, they don't often stay in the Westin/Sheraton (timeshare) resorts and they don't trade with II. She pretended to be positively stunned that we had traded here and had no Starwood affiliation. LOL!

Both sides of WRORV are purpose built timeshares - we bought in South during the building stage

Is it true that the south buildings were owned by another company at that time? Or was the facility always Starwood?

BTW, I couldn't think of the term she used, but my husband reminded me that she said it was not a timeshare or a destination club it was a Fractional Ownership. Apparently fractional ownership sounds nicer than timeshare. ;)

South was designed by another company but was finalized and built by SVN. From what I understand, they simply used the plans that were previously approved for the land.

It's a timeshare. It's not fractional ownership. The sales rep was confusing you with terms...standard practice.
