How do I place an ad. I am new to this.

If you want to give away your timeshare, you can place an Ad on the Bargain Deals Forum.

If you want to sell it, you can use the TUG Marketplace, linked in the red bar at the top of the page and you must be a TUG member ($15.)

I gave away 2 weeks @ Sheraton Vistana, weeks 21 & 22, to another Tugger. Very easy and they took care of everything and I verified that the deed was recorded into their name.

I'm glad they will get good use from the weeks because we wouldn't have.

I've given away three

In the past few months, I have given away three timeshares via the Bargain Board:

1) A Week 11 at Fairways of the Mountains in North Carolina
2) An unusual points-based (not RCI points) type of MROP, all-red contract with priority into the Pacific Northwest
3) A Week 21 at Inverness at Walden II in Lake Conroe, TX. (This last one is still in closing.)

All of these weeks had originally worked well for me, but I just can't travel as much as I used to, and these weeks were bought as traders, not as weeks to rent out.

Each of the new owners seemed quite knowledgeable and said that the ownership fit their needs well. (Weeks #1 & #3 are cost-effective II traders and Week #2 gives access to Washington State coast in summer.)

Hurray for TUG!

About a year ago I gave away a two bedroom fixed week 28 at Sheraton Vistana Courts to a fellow tugger, she is a fabulous lady and now I have her in my Facebook list!

Hey that's me! :D

I gave that unit back to Starwood in what I felt was a fair deal. Starwood gave me several thousand dollars credit for it towards what I purchased, so thanks again "Ada903" for helping me out!

Me too...

A few months ago, I gave away (to a TUG member) a Wyndham fixed winter week in FL which had also been converted (by a previous owner, not by me) to 182k points, thereby allowing use of either the underlying deeded fixed week / unit (when reserved under ARP), or credit pooling the associated points before the "use year" to use them elsewhere (I did both at one time or another).

I paid next to nothing for the ownership in the first place, so giving it away was no particular act of benevolence on my part. I also greatly disliked Pompano Beach, where the home resort was located. Overall I was frankly glad to rid myself of that particular ownership and the recipient was happy to get the points.

Just confirmed a week at Wyndham Santa Barbara for March -- it concerned me by your statement 'greatly disliked Pompano Beach' -- may I ask why?

My $0.02 worth...

Just confirmed a week at Wyndham Santa Barbara for March -- it concerned me by your statement 'greatly disliked Pompano Beach' -- may I ask why?

To each his / her own, of course but I found Pompano Beach to be an old and very tired city, long past its' prime days of yesteryear and seemingly devoid of any perceivable "soul". Reminded me of Atlantic City, NJ
--- but without casinos. I readily and openly acknowledge that this is just my own personal opinion.

Being harassed (day and night) to attend an "owner's update", then having my very nice Citizen's watch stolen right out of my timeshare unit during a very specific 30 minute absence also frankly did very little to improve my perspective. A bunch of teenage hoodlums jumping the fence to use the pool in the middle of the night one night (some fully clothed, some half-clothed, some naked) and making a very loud and deliberate ruckus while doing so --- until the police finally arrived --- also did not exactly endear the place to me. Fwiw, this particular Wyndham resort was Sea Gardens (Key West building), not Santa Barbara.
The Sea Gardens property itself is very nice, as are the units in the Key West building; Pompano Beach overall however, most definitely "not so much"...

To me, the primary only redeeming value of Pompano Beach was the fact that it's just a short drive south to Fort Lauderdale, which seemed (to me, anyhow) to have a very different "vibe" and a lot more going for it.

Just my own first hand personal experience and my own personal opinion. YMMV.

Appreciate your input. We haven't been to that side of Florida and saw a March week so grabbed it. Hopefully we will sign up for different tours, etc. and enjoy our week.

Sheraton Vistana Courts

I gave away my fixed week 42 2 BR Sheraton Vistana Courts within 12 hours of posting this on TUG :whoopie: as I was downsizing. Days later bought an EOY Marriott 2 BR lock off at Palm Desert on Ebay  Still a net loss of weeks? (Sorta the fuzzy logic I use when talking to my DH about how much money I saved at clothing sales)

Gave away Foxrun Sprngbreak week. I paid MFs and they paid closing and transfer fees.

Transferred my Bluegreen Points to Broker. Paid 2011 MFs on points which were banked and $350 per contract in fees.

If you found a home for your TS on the Bargain Deals forum (this board) please post a note here. I thought it would be interesting to keep a record.

I am in the process of closing on my timeshare on Hilton Head Island which I had advertised on both BBS and tug2. My response was actually from the tug2 ad. I'm using Legal Timeshare Transfers for paper work and recording, and all is going well so far. The price was $1.00 and we're sharing costs of the transfer.

I gave away two TS to Tuggers

I also gave away two TS to Tuggers. My offer was to cover all costs, but one new owner shared the cost with me voluntarily. I also transferred my RCI points membership to a new owner, which was a great deal for him. That resort (Eastern Slope Inn) worked very cooperatively with me and the new owner, and gave me the 'family' resort transfer rate. I'd been trying to give my unit back to them, they declined, but they actively educate their owners on avoiding the TS scams, and suggesting how to give them away.

We gave away a studio at the Avenue Plaza to a fellow Tugger. We paid all the transfer costs. It had been advertised on the bargain basement.

Deeds now in new owners name.

what do you mean you gave the unit back to Starwood? I thought they didn't take back timeshares, at least thats what they told me, I own a unit at Sheraton Broadway Plantation in Myrtle Beach SC.

She didn't really give it back - she "traded it in" on another developer purchase.

Is there a market?

I have advertised my TS on bargain basement TUG for a while and haven't had a bite.
Westgate Palace, even year, in my opinion an excellent location for a family holiday.
If there are companies willing to 'buy' your TS why don't they snap up the ones going for $1?

Yes, but you haven't advertised it on the Bargain Deals forum - which is a different place.

More Info. - http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=132509

There are no companies willing to "buy" your timeshare - they are all scammers who just want to get an upfront fee from you.

Gave away a 2BR at Tahiti Village in Las Vegas.

Was originally wanting to split this years MF and all fees, but as it turned out, I had paid MF in advance and didn't even realize it. So, I paid all fees, "buyer" got a bonus, and I saved money. Win-Win!

Gave Away my Foxrun week

I listed my week for free here, but I also listed it on Craigslist in North Carolina, near the resort. I got a response from the Craigslist ad in about 2 hours. I mailed in the deed to be recorded today.

Sorry to see it go, but too many weeks to use right now.
I am paying the $26 recording fee and the $100 resort transfer fee.

Sheraton Broadway Plantation - 1BR

I am happy to report that I gave away my 1BR timeshare at Sheraton Broadway Plantation in the Bargain Deals forum. I posted on November 21, 2011 and found a wonderful new owner on December 5th, 2011. We used Legal Timeshare Transfers to take care of the deed. I paid the transfer cost. Everything went very smoothly and quickly. The new owner was wonderful to work with and I wish her the best. As a bonus, with her cooperation and the efficiency of Legal Timeshare Transfers, we were able to make the transfer happen prior to the 1/6/12 deadline for the 2012 maintenance fees. It was very disappointing that it had to come to this, but I'm very grateful for this forum and the option it provided for me to be free of this obligation.

I am happy to report ...
In reviewing this thread, I cannot help but note that the comments are overwelming postive. One, not so complementry, but in that case no allegations of misreprestation or illegal/unethical behavior were made. I also cannot help but note my review of some threads pertaining to E-Bay purchases are not so complementry.
