For some unknown reason both my husband and I missed the Eagles when they first came out in the 70's. But, now we've "discovered" them and have so enjoyed a concert DVD they did a couple years ago that we're going to see them in concert in May in Atlanta.:whoopie:

From what I've read about them, they were kind of wild in their heyday, but they seem to have mellowed out and it's cool to see guys around our age still performing.

We also have enjoyed Hall & Oates DVD's and love their music, too.

Too many really to name. If I made a favorites list one day, I could easily come up with a completely different list another day.

Scrolling through my library, these are probably the artists where I think I'm most likely to either hit the repeat button or dump a bunch of their tunes onto my MP3 player when I don't have time to make a playlist.

  1. Nina Simone
  2. Patricia Barber (definitely an acquired taste)
  3. Muddy Waters
  4. The Radiators
  5. Diane Schuur
  6. KT Tunstall
  7. Isaac Hayes
  8. Jay McShann (Hootie would be on any list of favorites I made on any day.)
  9. Jubilant Sykes
  10. k.d. lang
  11. Sergei Rachmaninov
  12. Kirk Franklin
  13. Odetta
  14. Gillian Welch
  15. Lisa McCormick
  16. Patty Griffin
  17. Neko Case
  18. Abigail Washburn
  19. Ray Charles
  20. Rodrigo y Gabriela
  21. Ry Cooder
  22. Bonnie Raitt
  23. Miles Davis
  24. Squirrel Nut Zippers
  25. Tchaikovsky
  26. Mahalia Jackson
  27. Frank Sinatra
  28. India Arie
  29. Gershwin
  30. Sly & Robbie
  31. Tonéx

Game Theory

more well-known:

The Kinks
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
Sex Pistols
Nirvana
Jeff Beck

Others:

Mary Hopkin

Some can be found on You Tube but I am way too lazy this morning, lol

I've run the gambit. I've been a Neil Diamond fan since "Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show" came out. But at the same time I liked Iron Butterfly and Steppenwolf. Lately I gotten heavily into Buffett, but still like the others, plus some not mentioned.

Ah, my absolute favorite. The 80's group who brought back the 60's - The Smithereens! (original 80's MTV video - these guys rock). A live TV performamnce in 1987. and the classic Blood and Roses So good the guitar solo could even make a Nissan seems exciting in the ad!

After them I have Jimi Hendrix Experience, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Kinks, Beach Boys and others of that era. But there are great performers in every decade - a true favorite, other than those Smithereens (a recent appearance at BBKings in NYC, not the thin young punks they once were) , is tough to name.

One last one. Their recent tribute cd to the Beatles Meet the Smithereens A perfect recreation of all the original tracks.

Last time I went to a Newsboys concert the last song he sang was The Breakfast Song. All the kids in the audience had boxes of Captain Crunch and started throwing it on the stage. The stage got covered in cereal. We had a lot of fun that night! :whoopie:

Newsboys concerts are fantastic. We saw them about a year ago, and one of our sons just remarked the other day that he could hardly believe it's been a whole year since the concert. DW's favorite part was the drum duet with the drummer being spun around at various angles.

Maria Muldair, Dr John, Marcia Ball, Jack Johnson...

Glynda - Have you ever been on the "Sandy Beaches" Cruise? Marcia Ball is a regular along with, as she calls him, "THe Messiah - Delbert McClinton"

We went for the first time this year and were so thrilled, that we have already booked for 2009. We especially loved Jeffrey Steele & Paul Thorn.
