 As the Cat would say, what is it?

A question for our British Friends.

When Dave Lister gave the ultimate insult to Kryton by asking for ketchup for his lobster, he specified brown, not tomato.

I don't think I've heard that expression before and am wondering "what is it."

Brown Sauce

If you google brown sauce England, Wikipedia, there is a very good description of what brown sauce is and when it was invented. Over here it is generally called HP suace. It is very similar to your A1 steak sauce.

Hope this helps

Than you both for the info. I had imagined A-1 when I watched the episode.

It's funny that Wiki shows a picture of HP with a steak and Lobster, although I cant imagine using any sauce on either food if it's of high quality.

I may just have to order some of the Guinness HP, although shipping from this company is a little high.

If you have a grocery store near you which carries any "international foods" other than Mexican and Chinese, you might find HP Sauce there. I know I can purchase it in my local Von's supermarket. Alternately, next time you get to Vegas, let me know and I will bring you a bottle from my store. Or, next time you are here, go to the International supermarket on Decatur. It is very interesting; you could spend hours there.
