We have a unit at harborside booked for this summer, and have been plannning on making this our family vacation in 07. We are now reconsidering and making it our 10th anniversary trip and leaving the kids at home. I have read that harborside is a grat family resort, but how is it for couples? Are there places that are more romantic? How would it be for a 10th anniversary trip?

Romance is where you find it

Some say it's in Maui;) We own at Harborside and I would definitly call it a "Family Vacation". I would vote for Maui for a more romantic spot. This from someone who has been to Maui but who has yet to stay at WKORV (Hopefully 2008 for us). We are on our way to Harborside to see the Atlantis Phase III completion. Can't wait!

We own at Maui, and have 2 kids. In the summer there's lots of families and kiddies! Maybe a resort on the Wailea side? But there are loads of families in Maui in the summer anyhow. Harborside will be filled with familes also. If you don't want any kids around the pool I would ask a travel agent to give you ideas, and then check out the hotel websites.

We own at and love Harborside, but it would not be my first choice for a romantic, couples getaway. I could think of worse places, though. (I can never understand all those people who honeymoon at Disney, but I know a lot do!) If you do go to Harborside, I would recommend:
* avoiding the main pool areas-- the beach would be better
* if you need to go to a pool try the adults only lap pool by the spa/fitness center (my sister, who doesn't have kids, calls that area "adultland")
* splurge on dinners at Dune (at the Ocean Club) or Cafe Martinique- there are rarely any kids there
* couples massage at the spa (I highly recommend hanging out in the thassalotherapy (sp?) pool afterward)
* if you are into casinos, that could be fun, too
* Plato's in the evening
There are probably more grown-up things to do that I don't even know about, because I always have the kids with me!
