Hi,
Which resort would you say has better units and which resort would you say has a nicer beach? I know the points are higher for Ocean BLVD, but is there a reason why, say because it's nicer?
Thanks,
Sue

We stayed in Ocean Boulevard this spring and it was nice, nice location etc. But I don't think it's nicer than Seawatch. The locations are different - Ocean Boulevard is further north, away from the older section of "downtown" Myrtle Beach. Some may prefer that; others may prefer the Seawatch location. In terms of the amenities, OB may have a couple of extra things, but there's plenty at Seawatch also.

The point differential explains why Seawatch fills up first and you must have Myrtle Beach ARP to book there in summer. Some of the point values at OB are ludicrous. (800K for a mid-summer 4BR Presidential). That's double the cost of the 4BR Pres at Seawatch.

A lot of the higher Ocean Blvd point values are due to "point inflation". Used to be 63K or 77K for a PRIME 1bdr unit in the first Wyndham resorts (either built or converted) is NOW 154-189K and gpoing higher in points. Wyndham also started view classifications like OCEANVIEW, OCEANFRONT and the UPPER/LOWER locations also. Plus, there are Penthouse units also. Ocean Blvd is the queen of inflating the cost of points to book units both for view and height - and with the regional MB ARP ... Seawatch is where everyone tries to stay except "some" owners. ;) under the principal of an owner can do 4 weeks at Seawatch or only 3 at OB.

While I've never stayed at Seawatch, I have been to Ocean Boulevard and the resort was very nice and maintained. I liked being north of all the action, especially since we stayed during the summer. We are heading back there next year during the spring.

The reason for the points difference between Ocean Boulevard and Seawatch is not because the units at OB are nicer but rather because OB is a newer resort. Wyndham puts higher point values on the newer resorts. In my experience at the two resorts, the units are very similar and the ocean views and beach are also similar. Seawatch has the lagoon and is a little more scenic and their pools are much nicer. The pools at OB are located between the towers and are shaded much of the day and the wind blowing between the towers is rather chilly when you’re wet. If you want to walk to restaurants and in town entertainment then OB is your best choice. If you prefer to be away from the Ocean Boulevard traffic and don’t mind driving to area restaurants and attractions then Seawatch is the better choice. Seawatch is also more centrally located between Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle. However, If you don’t have ARP at the Myrtle Beach Wyndhams you’re probably not going to be able to make a prime summer reservation at Seawatch. Most all the units at Seawatch are booked during the advanced reservation period.

We have been to both. Both have their pluses and minuses.....
As for our family, us and two kids, we enjoyed the activites and facilities better at OB. The condos were decorated more modern and updated, as well as larger at OB.
Both have plenty of activities and staff was great at both.
According to my wife, the biggest problem with SeaWatch is the restrooms are on second level. With small kids, that means up and down the stairs all day long.
Also, a security guard kept telling people about a dent in the rail....which occurred a year prior when someone jumped off a balcony.
Just our opinion.

If the unit you were in at Seawatch had 2 floors, you were not in a typical deluxe 1, 2, or 3 bedroom unit but rather a presidential unit. I agree that the two floors would be a pain. As to the security guard, hopefully they have gotten rid of that crazy person by now.
