Hi,
Hope this isn't too confusing to you, because I am a little confused myself on how to ask this.
OK, My points are from October 1st through Sept.30. On line my points for 2016 show. I want to make a reservation for May 2016, but I won't have enough points for the reservation unless I can also use points from the next year. But those points won't be available until October 2016, which is months later than I need for May 2016. When am I able to pool the points I will receive for 2017? These points would be starting Oct. 2016.
Hope you understand what I am trying to ask.
Thanks, Sue

I think I'm following you. :)

You can pool points as soon as you can see them in your account online. You will see the next use year a day or two after January 1st.

Regular bookings can only be made 10 months ahead, or 13 months ahead using ARP. You will have to wait until July 2015 to make a regular booking for May 2016.

January 1 (or 2?), 2015, the points for the 2017 use year will show up in your account. These points are valid for travel from Oct 1, 2016 to Sep 30, 2017. You can credit pool these points as soon as they become available if you want to make a booking for a date prior to Oct 1, 2016. Credit pooled points can not be used for ARP reservations.

To sum up...you cant make the reservation you want until sometime in 2015.

In January 2015 you will be able to put the points that expire in 2017 into the pool.

so then you will have the points available to make the reservation you want exactly 10 months ahead of check in

Hi and thank you,
So to be clear, the 2016 points I now see, should stay as regular points and not be pooled. Then in January when I see the 2017 points, they are the ones I should pool. Then I can combine the points and make the May 2016 reservation?

The only reason I could see to pool the 2016 points in your accountwould be to save the extra housekeeping credits that might not be used by the reservation you're trying to make.

Depending on how many points we're actually talking about, if you don't really do many long weekend type things it's probably a wash between the pool fee and having to buy a few HK credits if needed.

Do you have available 2015 points that you can pool this week (BEFORE your next use year begins)? That would also help your 2016 booking requirement and will give your 2015 points 3 years of total life.
