We have a reservation at WMH for next march during spring break. we have three preschool-elementary aged girls. What is there to do within an hour of wmh for the family. I have looked at disneyland and the san diego zoo but both are 2 hours away, what is there closer? the pools there are heated right? It should be warm enough to swim in march right? thanks for the help!

Westin Mission Hills in Palm Springs, Ca. They have a large selection of "pool" toys for sale. The pools are heated. We were there in Feb an few years ago. Taking the Tram ride up themountain is a must - but dress warmly. The food prices weren't too bad. There is a street market on Thursday nights which is supposed to be great. We missed it last time. We're going back to PS in Feb 07, but not to WMH. My kids are grown so I wasn't paying attention to the little guy stuff.

There is a kid's museum just a mile away. It has a lot of interactive stuff for the little ones. There is a zoo (I can't remember the name) just a few miles away and it has a nice petting section. The playground at WMH has swings and slides - enough to keep them busy for a little while:) .

We really enjoyed the kids museum last year. They also run a kids camp if you want to have a day alone. I think you can access the information online - if you can find the museum...

When are you going? We'll be there 4/1 to 4/8. I also have elementary school-aged children.

First post :) I too will be at WMH in March 2007 and the dates we are there I understand SoCal schools will be on Spring break! Do you think it will be a zoo? Do they have any quiet type pools away from the main family type pool? If so is there a particular building we should request? I don't mind crows so much but I don't like the idea of not being able to find lounge chairs to relax and do some reading. I have never stayed at this resort and am really looking forward to it. Thanks!

I am not familiar with the pool situation at the villas, so I'll let someone else address that. However, at the hotel there are three pools. Las Brisas pool is the one with a waterslide and swim up bar. When we there over Thanksgiving last year, it was very crowded with few lounge chairs available. However, we went to the smaller second pool, Las Hadas, and it was much quieter. We had no problems getting lounge chairs there. There is also a third adults only pool (La Paloma). If you go to the following website, you can see a resort map:

http://www.starwoodvo.com/resorts/amenities.jsp?resortID=13#

The villas are on the right hand side.

The only time we've seen the WMH very crowded was around Easter this year. Besides the main pool at the villas there is another one towards the far end of the resort. Kids tend to prefer the main pool as it has the water slide, the water voleyball net, and the water basketball. If you just want to sit back, relax, and read, I'd recommend going to the pool at the far end of the villas.

Thank you Pedro. We will be there the week before Easter, we leave on Friday the 6th and Easter is on the 8th and I understand SoCal schools have that week off for Spring break. Do you know what building I should request to be near the "quiet" pool?

I think you should ask for any high-numbered building (43 and above) and you will be close to the "quite" pool.

The adult pool is furthest away from the Hotel, but I found it perfect. It's near buildings 56-59 (and others, as well...).
