Took the advise and rebooked my reservation under discount window. Being my first time I took the suggestion to call first thing and use the reservation line. Worked very smoothly.
Wish I could find who told me that, but thanks. On the same note I could not find where the canceled reservation points
Show up immediately after cancellation. I refreshed the point status screen, but did not show up immediately. Asked rep why, and she said takes a couple of hours. Booked at 8am now 11am. Ami looking at wrong place?

They won't show up until tomorrow morning, after the overnight processing. To get a pretty good idea in the meantime, you can initiate (but not complete) a deposit to RCI, and it will tell you how many points you have available to deposit.

So next time, I can go online at 7am for booking, and find our by using this method, or is that too early for RCI?

To your core question, cancelled points are immediately available, but cannot be directly seen online by you until the next day. When you log in at 7 a.m. the next day, you have NO need to then log into RCI because the points will already show up in your Wyndham account.

The RCI trick or the booking trick (another way to see if the points returned) are ONLY needed on the day of cancellation.

The RCI site and the Wyndham site both open at the same time.
