Thanks. Month to month 8 Gb for £27. Better than Att. Perhaps with Google voice this could become my us plan.Lots of threads on this topic recently. And yes, 3 is the way to go if you can get the SIM before you travel (if France first) or just buy a prepaid SIM at the airport in the UK (easiest).

I believe 3 has multi country SIMs. It's getting pretty easy these days.

Prepaid is unlimited data in the UK and up to 25GB when in other countries during the same 30 days, which I think was just £30 or so.
Rather appropriately call "All you can eat" data by 3.
Cheers

Three have stopped their unlimited data packages. I think they proved too popular for their own good!

Really? Perhaps for new customers. My account still shows these options:
Find me a 25gb a month data plan in the US for $50 a month!
I pay $25 per month (plus about $6 in taxes) for 1GB from Sprint (framily plan). For an extra $15 per month, I could have unlimited data.
Since when does Sprint service the UK and France?
The poster I was replying said "Find me a 25gb a month data plan in the US for $50 a month."
For the record, you can use Sprint rather seamlessly in Europe now. As with T-Mobile, you can get free slow data or you can pay $30 for 1GB of high-speed data. Worked well for me a couple months back.
Unlimited customers who use more than 23GB of data during a billing cycle will be de-prioritized during times and places where the Sprint network is constrained. See sprint.com/networkmanagement
