20 Great Places You Can Live in the US for $1,000 a Month - by Megan Craig, GoBanking Rates/ Business Insider/ businessinsider.com

"Sometimes, the rent is too darn high. In fact, the number of households in the United States spending more than 50 percent of their income on rent is on the rise, according to a report by Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies and Enterprise Community Partners, Inc. Nice article but I feel that the title is a little misleading. The article is only showing places to rent (or a mortgage payment) of under $1000./month - not living for less than that. What about food & utilities - you need those to live.

Last winter we met several Americans living in Belize for less than $1000./month -including rent, groceries, utilities, entertainment, eating out.... - that's living!!
