I'm scheduled to fly out of Philly on July 28th. The DNC will be in town, and over 1,000 airport workers, (mainly baggage handlers), have voted to strike during that period of time. I am flying Southwest, (have lots of points, so it's essentially a free flight), to San Francisco. Beginning to worry......do I keep my ticket and "hope for the best", (have to make a connection in Denver--a bit over 2 hours of layover time).....or should I look for an alternate departure airport? In doing a quick check this morning, it looks like Baltimore (BWI) would be the best choice, (similar # of points used; about a 2 hour drive).

I would take to 2 hour drive to BWI. Much easier airport to navigate. However, if you don't have a bag to check in, maybe it won't hinder your trip.

Yay! The baggage handlers called off the strike! Now I just have to hope that Southwest flights are running on schedule, (after the snafu last week). I'm hoping that I can pack my belongings into a carryon ....just in case.
