My son would love to fly fish while we are in Branson for a week next summer. Would love some information on this. He prefers fly fishing in rivers and streams. Wondering if there are any areas near Wilderness lodge at Big Cedar? He really doesn't need lessons, but to know where to go.
Thanks for any info.

Look at Lake Taneycomo. The fly fishing area is located right below the dam - which is about a 10 or 15 minute drive from Big Cedar.

You can also do fly fishing at Dogwood Canyon park (which is actually owned and operated by Big Cedar). It's about a 20 minute drive from Big Cedar. Dogwood Canyon is a park with a $20 entrance fee and then you have to pay extra to do the fly fishing option. However, it's definitely one of the most beautiful places in the Ozarks! I'd recommend the hiking option at Dogwood (IMO, it's worth it) and Lake Taneycomo for the fly fishing.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Another option for fly fishing is Roaring River State Park. It's at least an hour away from Big Cedar.

Thanks for the information. So fly fishing is good at Lake Taneycomo below the dam? We are actually staying in Branson for a week next June. Love Dogwood Canyon tram ride, but Dogwood canyon's costs so much for a family of 8.
Thanks!

Yes the fishing is good below the dam, and they have a fly-fishing only zone. It's located right by fish hatchery. Don't discount Roaring River state park though... only an hour away and the trout fishing there is excellent.
