I have been to vegas many times but never without a car.

This thursday I will be flying in from the east coast and will be staying at the HGVC on the Strip (north end / near sahara). I was wondering how much a limo is going to cost me from the airport if I decide to ride in style. What other options are available to me for transportation to the hotel from the aiport? Any tricks I should now about to avoid getting HUGE fairs from taxi drivers?

I will be taking the monorail while in town to get around the strip.

A limo would be $42./hr from Bell Trans. according to their website. If you want a shared shuttle (van) its $5. per person to go South of Sahara and East of I-15, which is where you are going.

If you take a taxi, in general you would be "long hauled" if you were taken thru the airport tunnel, so that is not something you'd want to do...

Except, if you came in sometime in the evening on the weekend, you might in fact want to be taken that way because the Strip would have so much traffic that it would cost you even more...

BTW, do you have any idea how far the monorail stop will be from your hotel? You'll have to walk thru your hotel, across the street, then thru the Sahara to even get to the monorail station. Its quite a furr piece...

Fern= You are such a wealth of knowledge.
So are you saying we will be pretty much out in the boonies @ the Hilton?
The monorail station sounds like a hike over. Had planned to use it.
No buses to the Strip??

Marie..
Lets see if I get this right :)

You are staying at a different HGVC than gshipley.

You won't have far to walk.. I'd guess a 5-8 minute walk at the most to get to the monorail station at the LV Hilton.

Actually both HGVC's are near the Sahara Hotel ..

gshipley will be at the new one on the strip.. WEST of Sahara

you will be east of the Sahara Hotel

There is a monorail stop behind the Sahara.. and one at the LV Hilton.
The LV Hilton monorail station is closer to you.. and an easier walk

I have stayed at this resort. It took us about 10-12 minutes to walk across the street to the Sahara to board the monorail, which we used every day. I think there have been concerns with construcation noise at this resort, you may want to check that out.

I really liked staying there last year, and the noise was not a problem for us.

Yeah, I have stayed at the one on the strip many times and don't mind the walk over to the Sahara. I just have never been in vegas without a car and was wondering about transportation from the airport.

I am actually staying at the one of the strip for two nights and then moving to the hilton at the convention center for two nights. I have never stayed/seen the resort off the strip so I thought now would be a good time to try it out.
