Any Shell Vacation Club owners ever take them up on their owners update getaways?
I was just wondering if they were worth the bother, figuring they'd be pressuring one to buy more points.
I've been to one subsequent presentation where I did not buy, had no trouble with the salesman, but the manager was full of baloney about prices about to go up and all the usual mullarky about receiving an email just that morning authorizing him to extend the low prices temporarily.
Since it has been mentioned on TUG that a lot of us bought from the developer before we really knew about the vast resale market, this is the one for us that put us in that category.:annoyed:
We've done what is widely advised on TUG, though, that is to make the maximum use of it, and we have and are enjoying it. :whoopie:
I'm just wondering if the "free" :hysterical: updates would add anything to getting more for our money.

Thanks,

Marty

We also purchased from Shell directly. We just came back from an owners update. We got three nights in Napa at the Vino Bello and also $100 in dining gift certificate. Our update lasted exactly 90 minutes. It could have been shorter, but I was interested in their points system. It was not high pressure at all. Hotels in Napa are super expensive and getting 3 nights free was totally worth 90 minutes of our time. The $100 was just icing.

Thanks, I was wondering about, Napa. Never been there, and would like to see it. If it's just 90 min, this could be a no-brainer.

We got a studio unit at Vino Bello. It was very nice and it even has a washer/dryer in the unit. We liked it so much we bought some points when we got back.

We got a letter from Shell today inviting us to a free update, only the information carried the fine print that the accomodations would not be at Shell resorts. That shot it for us. Why would they update owners if they're not going to have them tour the actual resorts?:annoyed:

Hi Marty, for SF they use the Sheraton. For vino Bello, there's not much choice up there and they use either Vino Bello or Meritage. Meritage is the hotel attached to Vino Bello. So you might get to stay at the resort. Ask them when you call.

Ok, thanks. That would be acceptable in Napa for sure.
