I was wondering if anyone has experience with online RCI reservations with points/nights. I have only done weekly reservations, and by phone. Whenever I try weekly reservations online, I get the "this unit may have been booked" message and it doesn't go through.

The other day, I was checking the "nightly" availability and exactly what I was looking for popped up: Disney's Wilderness Lodge Villas in December for a 1BR. So I proceeded to book online and everything looks like it went through; I received confirmation and it showed in my "confirmed" reservations list online (where nothing ever showed up before).

What I don't understand is, the points were not taken out of my HGVC balance (3,400 pts). Also, I noticed that in my RCI "account", there was some 20,000+ pts "through 2011". Where did these come from? I never made any RCI deposits... is this just a conversion of my current HGVC balance?

To make matters more confusing... I just tried to log in to RCI reservations and I get "this account is not active"?? I don't know if it's a related issue or not... it just won't work.

I'm thoroughly confused.

Late in the fall of 2009 we used our HGVC login to RCI to reserve 2 rooms in Vancouver, couple things I found out from this.

1. Even though it was for a 2010 date, they used our 2009 points (which was fine by us, we were not gonna be able to use them anyway, and would have had to transfer them to 2010)

2. It took almost a week before they actually were "pulled" out of our HGVC points.

3. We did not book a full week but instead 5 or 6 days

Not sure any of this helps, but thought I would chime in.

Thanks, I figured it was something like this. Well, at least my login works now on my RCI reservations account.

I'm still wondering about where these points came from:
RCI Reservation Window
02/14/2010 - 02/14/2012

Total Points Available For Use

Includes available current year plus an additional 2 years of Points and any past year Points on deposit in RCI.

The "points available" in the RCI page doesn't mean that you have deposited your points to RCI -- it just indicates the number of points that you have access to. As it states, that includes your current year HGVC points plus two years. So if you have 10K annual points, and you have 6810 current year points, that would add up to your 26810 points on the RCI page.

Just a reminder that Disney only lets you take a 7 day reservation, nothing smaller.

This is true in either points or weeks.

When booking through RCI weeks we keep getting the unit is not available symbol, so I called HGVC and the resort was available and they booked it for us. In addition we have a week through the points side and it has never shown up on the confirmed reservations page. I was worried so I called HGVC and they confirmed the reservation did exist. Maybe they have some quirt in the system. We did get email confirmations for both resort stays with RCI.

Yes, I have experienced the same thing: every reservation with "weeks" I have to make over the phone; I don't think the online system works. And subsequently, reservations made over the phone never show up online. I wish they would fix it. :annoyed:
