I hope they would count the SVO stays! I can use a few 'extra nights' to make sure I get the additional benefits beyond just SPG Platinum, like the 10 suite night upgrades and the SPG Ambassador. Despite the complaints on Flyertalk, my ambassador has been great. Unfortunately I didn't reach 100 nights last year and lost that service.

Who's escalating? I'm not.

You're entitled to your opinion. I disagree with it -- isn't that what these threads are for?

Irritable day ... yes, we agree on that :D

Wow...

Happy St Patty's Day - enjoy a Guiness! {you too Ken...}

I wish. Just got back from a board meeting. Hmm...a beer would've been more welcome before the meeting...or three.

I'd be against it. It dilutes the benefits for those that achieve Plat through the normal channels. I should be close this year, but now I probably jinxed myself. :D

SPG Plat is pretty much diluted anyways. The Plat "lite" version (25 stays) is what we get with SVN's 5 Star Elite status. It has the least extras.

The other "levels" of Plat ("50", "75", and "100") get bunches of extras.

If they start giving us credit for SVO stays, I'm sure that they'll make new higher levels of Plat (which we won't get) so that they can push the extras up a notch, 'cause it's all about the status.

This is all true... they have made different Plat tiers with the extra bonuses.

For me, I prefer that they not change the highest tier level as I am 2 years away from lifetime Plat. I have the required stays for lifetime -- I just need the years in program to qualify. So I am fine that I don't get the other extras, and I prefer that they do not dilute the tier even further. Call me selfish :D

Actually, I think SPG is pretty good about that as compared with other programs anyway.

You do receive credit, at least we do, for our nights and our stays at SVO Units. I cannot tell you if that is because we are Platinum, but I don't believe it makes a difference.

If I look at our year we have only stayed in the hotels for 11 nights and we have credit for many more nights based on recent stay at the Westin St John.

So dilution or not, you get credit towards the SPG 50 nights and 75 nights with SVO stays in my experience.

Is this credit during a SVO stay, or did you pay nightly? In ten years I've never received SPG nightly credit for a SVO stay, and I don't think anyone else here has as well.

agreed, we've never had that happen. I guess it's been 10yrs for us as well, time flies...

I have never received credits for SVO stays/nights -- during my time as SPG Plat or Gold -- except for when I booked a room on points directly through SPG.

If this is true, consider yourself a lucky recipient of a system error or special designation because it is not supposed to happen according to the published rules.

So, I stayed at SMV using my SOs for 3 nights last February and 2 nights at WSJ early this month using SPs.

My SPG account summary shows 1 stay and 2 nights to date indicating that the SO stays were not included in the SPG count.

Spoke too soon - when checking over my points, I forgot about a 2 night stay on 1/2 and also got a duplicate 5 night stay -- so when I tried to determine where my 24 nights YTD came from, I assumed the 7 came from the Villas.

My mistake - I am very sorry for the confusion found - I have deleted my other posts to remove confusion.
