Not sure how bookings differ between voluntary versus mandatory resorts, but had a couple of questions regarding resale purchase of Voluntary resort:

1. If I buy a resale voluntary resort that is 2BR lockoff unit, can I book one side for a different week than the other side (as long as its within the designated season)?

2. If it is a deeded 2BR lockoff unit, can I split it up into two separate reservations at a later date?

3. If a voluntary resale has a fixed deeded week of 52, do I still have the option of booking a different week within the Platinum Plus season or I am locked into that fixed week?

4. Am I able to easily book and change reservations online via mystarcentral as easily for a voluntary resort as I would for a mandatory resort?

Yes

In theory - yes, but don't wait until the last minute.

A true fixed week cannot be changed - period.

4. Am I able to easily book and change reservations online via mystarcentral as easily for a voluntary resort as I would for a mandatory resort?

It's the same process for both - kind of klunky, because changes require sending an message that a person has to read and process - not real time, and some changes still require a call.

Thanks for the fast reply Denise!

One more quick question regarding voluntary resales. Instead of booking and using a full week (7nights) at once, can I break it up into 3 nights one week and 4 nights a different week (as long as the nights aren't valued at higher staroptions such as weekend nights)? I realize you can't do this for any resort during the 12-month home resort booking period, but was wondering if you could do it after 8 months for a voluntary resort, similar to a mandatory resort.

For a voluntary resort, it is home resort time until the day of check in. Some of the Vistana resorts (original developer before Starwood) have partial week provisions. For example I can break my week at SBP into 4 and 3 or 5 and 2. You can have only one sunday and one Saturday. You do need to pay an extra cleaning fee when checking in for the second reservation. You have to look into the specific rules for each resort. Voluntary resorts developed by Starwood do not have these types of provisions as far as I know.
